Servers

When starting a game in V Rising a player can choose and customize a server to play on. There are three kinds of servers so far in V Rising: Player vs Player, Player vs Environment, and Dedicated Servers.

Player vs Player (PvP)

This server type is where players can build fortresses and build clans for the purpose of going against other players. In this server type there are more to customize which will be explained below.

PVP:

This is the standard PVP mode. This mode allows you to attack other players in the world. If you kill or die to a player, the dying player’s loot will drop on the floor. This loot does not include your armor and weapons. You will drop 15% of the materials for your weapon and armor and lose durability on them.

Full Loot PVP:

This is the hardcore PVP mode. This mode allows you to attack other players in the world. If you kill or die to a player, the dying player will drop ALL LOOT on their person.

Raiding

Raiding a player involves destroying their castle or base and taking loot. This can also include using keys to destroy or capture their castle heart. Castle Heart options are only available on Full Loot PVP servers, although you can raid and loot on normal PVP servers. Typically raiding is restricted to a time schedule.

Player vs Environment (PvE)

In the PVE Gamemode, players cannot engage in player vs player combat, and instead, work together to overcome the various bosses and challenges of the environment. Private Games can have 1-60 players. They can be restricted to solo play only. Clan sizes can be set from 1-20 players. LAN games are also possible, allowing players on the same LAN to play together offline. Other customization of the server may apply below.

  • Standard PvE Rules: The standard developer chosen rules for a balanced experience
  • Standard PvE Easy: Enemies deal less damage and are easier to kill. More resources and items than standard.
  • Standard PvE Hard: Enemies deal more damage and are harder to kill. Fewer resources and items than standard.
  • PvE Dawn – Level 30: Standard PvE Rules, plus begin with level 30 gear, resources and progression
  • PvE Noon – Level 50: Standard PvE Rules, plus begin with level 50 gear, resources and progression
  • PvE Dusk – Level 70: Standard PvE Rules, plus begin with level 70 gear, resources and progression

Dedicated Server

Dedicated servers for V Rising enable players to interact with each other via Online Play.

  • The Online Play menu indicates whether the server has “Standard” settings or not. Users may want to contact a server admin to clarify any settings on a custom server.
  • Each dedicated server may be configured to the host’s preferences, such as…
    • Enabling PvP
    • Incoming and outgoing damage intensity
    • Day/night cycle duration
    • Loot drop rates
    • and more…

V Rising (Stunlock Studios) is officially partnered with G-Portal, offering players the option to rent a server with little or no technical skill required.

  • Note: G-Portal servers are limited in that they are less customizable than hosting your own server.

Players may also host their own servers for free via the “V Rising Dedicated Server” application, using their own computer hardware and internet connection as a host.

  • The V Rising Dedicated Server application is currently available only on Windows 10/11.
    • User feedback indicates it can work on Linux via Wine or Windows 10 virtual machines.
